Research engineer specialising in analogue electronics

We seek a research engineer specialising in analogue electronics to IRF’s office in Uppsala (ca 35 employees). You will work in a successful research group that builds scientific instruments for spacecraft investigating the solar system.

Tasks:
Your main area of responsibility will be analogue electronics that we build for various space instruments. Important tasks are design of sensitive analogue electronics, tests of systems, circuits and components. You will often be working on several parallel projects. One of the first projects you will work with is JUpiter ICy moons Explorer (JUICE), where we lead an international consortium to build and operate a scientific instrument on a spacecraft to Jupiter. You may also work on instruments for the spacecraft Solar Orbiter and Turbulence Heating ObserveR (THOR). The work involves international collaboration with other research institutes and space organisations such as ESA and NASA. Other tasks within the group’s various hard- and software projects may also be required.

Qualifications:
You have a university engineering education to Masters level in engineering physics or electronics. Knowledge about, and experience of, work with analogue electronics is highly desirable. We would also like you to have a knowledge of several of the following areas: electromagnetic field theory, material science, CAD of PCB, design of electronics for harsh environments, testing and evaluating electronics systems, work with specifications, and soldering of components on circuit boards. You should also be prepared to solve problems in other technical areas.

You should be able to work independently. We have a great deal of international contacts, so an ability to collaborate well both within the group and with various international groups is essential, as is a willingness to learn Swedish. You will be part of a small, tight-knit group of engineers specialising in analogue electronics, digital electronics and software for the instruments we build for various spacecraft. Our work requires that everyone has a broad technical knowledge, and is able to work on tasks within a range of areas.
